Movies 101.4 - Examples of Top Movies

Top movies are top stories, have top executions and convey top intentions across. Below are my choices of which should be of consensus, provided we share similar frequency.

E.g.: 12 Angry Men (1957), The Godfather (1972), The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), Citizen Kane (1941), Schindler's List (1993), Seven Samurai (1954), Casablanca (1942), Sunset Blvd. (1950), To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), Cinema Paradiso (1988), Rashomon (1950), Bicycle Thieves (1948), The Shawshank Redemption (1994), Inception (2010), The Lord of the Rings, 霸王别姬 Farewell My Concubine (1993) , Chinatown (1974)... and a few Hayao Miyazaki's anime.

Movies 101.3 - Intentions

Here's the tricky part whereby intentional messages/ideas conveyed by the movies are felt/touched onto differently, subject to individual preferences and experiences. So you've got to ask yourself: What have you learned/enjoyed?

E.g. top intentional movies: The Shawshank Redemption (1994), Life Is Beautiful (1997), To Kill a Mockingbird (1962)...

Movies 101.2 - Executions

Executions consist of all technicalities for the story-telling, i.e. directing, acting, cinematography etc. Question to ask: How's the story-telling?

E.g. of top executions: Inception (2010), 12 Angry Men (1957), Schindler's List (1993)...

Movies 101.1 - Stories

Top movies are top stories, consensus. Question to ask: Is the story interesting?

E.g.: The Godfather (1972), The Lord of the Rings, Chinatown (1974)...

Movies 101 - How to Appreciate Movies?

Here's to value movies at a higher purpose, more than entertainment.

In my opinion, top movies have
1. top stories (consensus)
2. top executions (consensus)
3. top intentions (personal/noisy)

Certain Noise must also be identified and filtered to enhance just appreciation.

Muammar Gaddafi

This card is too imbalance for the game, let's create another Malaysian creature to balance it.

After popular movements overturned the rulers of Tunisia, Egypt and Libya, some creatures around still too imbalance, yet so defiant.

Bersih 3.0

Those who understands, already understood.

Done.

Please, the only mission now is to reach out to others who hasn't understood yet.

Not much time left. Be intentional of the goal, don't lose sight of the course.

Tear Gas can kill

Those who personally kena/experience tear gas will understand it can kill. Those who hearsay/read newspaper/watch facebook photos about tear gas can don't bother to understand.

Just duduk and bersih at home.

Just like only successful people know/understand what exactly is the bitter price for success.

Bersih 3.0 vs Bersih 2.0

Actually only 3 major differences.

1. Attendees are hell more, to the extend that nobody knows what's going on around, people and people only is what you can see and smell.

2. The ambiance is hell less tense, so romantic, people can wear anyhow, until the show starts.

3. Tear Gas for Bersih 2.0 only aims at the front line, whereas Bersih 3.0 shoots at the front, BACK, LEFT, RIGHT and from ABOVE.

Last Spoilers! - The Cabin in the Woods (2011)

Bersih is a ritual sacrifice for only selective Malaysians. Every now and then we have to appease the Ancient Ones. Don't ask me why, but I wonder how come every time we opt for Tear Gas from FRU/Police.

Who's the idiot to trigger Tear Gas? Is there other options like Silat from Umno, or Parang from legal immigrants, or Jumping-down-from-building from Anti-Rasuah, or Cows attack from Shahrizat, or Stupid smirk attack/C4 bomb from Najib?

I rather to be stabbed to death by funny clown and heroic unicorn.

In view of the limited lifespan for the movie screening here, I'm gonna be the spoiling bastard.

Who's meaner than Mr. Anders Behring Breivik?

Why the hell I learn from Drogba or Abramovich?

Mr. Anders Behring Breivik still has the chance to be trialed, to live with dignity and without death sentence, who's meaner?

Hannibal? The Army in the Cabin in the Woods? Najib?

Mr. Meanest Mean

Here's to my idol of my latest reborn philosophy.

Even De Matteo wins everything, Mr. Meanest Mean still won't bother to frown flicking him for Guardiola or Hiddink.

Law of Attraction

Jon Champion (Chelsea vs. Liverpool, FA Cup 2012 Finals, now) :
"Mean, moody... Magnificent."

I was just talking and determined to be mean. The meanest Drogba has just shown me the light.

To hell be mean. Be the meanest.

I'm gonna hit you

I'm gonna be so mean that I'll heck care your feelings.

It's either I disappoint you or I'm disappointed.

Enough is enough I'm done with the latter.

I'm wasting my fu*king time here

People are slaving for working, pulling multiple shifts to make ends meet, getting abusive hits to make it in life.

Here I am wasting my fu*king time to figure things out, working my fingers on excuses, immersing in self pity and mediocrity.

I've got no time left.

Just Do It like it's never been done

Love like you've never been burnt.
Work like you don't need the money.
Dance like there's nobody watching.

Quit understand them. Somehow I just need to DO IT.

Fakers

I'm surrounded by fakers.

I might as well better be one.

Nobody gives a sh*t anyway.

Anger Management

Ok I'm pi*sed.

I'm gonna vent my emotions through writing tonight, positively.

Home/Away Games

E.g. Manchester to London is 315.6 km, like Singapore to K.Lumpur, 3+- hours drive.

Can you imagine some hardcore fans will travel, pay the ticket, watch the teams play like sh*t, and travel back, week in week out.

New York Knicks 2011 Salary

Anthony, Carmelo $18,518,574        Chandler, Tyson $14,750,000
Stoudemire, Amar'e $18,217,705      Bibby, Mike $1,352,181
Davis, Baron $1,325,181                   Douglas, Toney $1,145,640
Jeffries, Jared $1,229,255                  Shumpert, Iman $1,563,120
...

Just be da*n good at what we do. Who cares if they play like sh*t?

Who let the Boss out?

 Jose Mourinho :
"I don't call him Sir, Mister, Alex or Ferguson. I call him Boss."

Best way to knock Ferguson off his fu*king perch, is to let him win the title this year.

If not next year he'll be looking for his 20th, if not the year after next, ... no doubt about it.

2011/12 English Premier League

What a season with a shy UEFA finalist, a Barcelona's Beta-version, an always-why noisy mega-tycoon, a VanGod, a Draw King, a Yak, a stronger mid/bottom-table teams, a seemingly-weak-but-donno-why-always-still-the-top-team, a Senegal tag team combo with the best goal, a Cup finals' heavy investor, a 10men-better-than-11men-team, some mid/bottom-table giant-killers, some nonsense refereeing/take-pay-don't-play attitude/divings/racisms...

Best premier league season for me till date.

UEFA Champions League 2012 Finals

Are you watching closely?

For I know who'll win. Do you?

NBA Playoffs 2012

As a result of an aging Mavericks, an injured Bulls, Finals should be Spurs/Thunder vs. Celtics/Heat.

My guess would be Thunder vs. Heat.

Again Spoiler Alert! - The Cabin in the Woods (2011)

Ok I couldn't help it but who's your favourite nightmare?

I'm gonna opt for Merman or Unicorn ;)

Watch the movie before I turn mad into a complete spoiling bastard.

Memorable Character - Scarface (1983)

Al Pacino as Tony Montana :
"All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break them for no one."

Impossible to forgo Al Pacino as any gangster, especially Tony Montana. He's my God Al Pacino's limit to the max. You can safely judge by knowing his 'little friend'.

Memorable Character - The Godfather Part II (1974)

Al Pacino as Michael Corleone (Won multiples Oscar, AFI's 100 Years #11 Villain) :
"I know it was you, Fredo. You broke my heart. You broke my heart."

Pity Micheal is not even close to Najib. Micheal only just kills of his own brother, his sister's husband, and whoever's in his way in a lawless gangster era. Whereas Najib is slowly decomposing and killing of an entire nation in today's context, softly and with smileys.

Micheal you gotta be more mean.

My working hours

I'm my own company. As business man, I work above time.

No work-life balance, only work-bank balance. Behold my coming crazy hours.

Memorable Character - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

Darth Vader (AFI's 100 Years #3 Villain)

I'm not a science-fiction fan. I never fancy him scary.

But breath...breath...breath...

Memorable Character - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)

Louise Fletcher as Nurse Ratched (Won Oscar Best Actress, AFI's 100 Years #5 Villain)

Let's welcome a lady in the house, who made it so high up the list of almighty bad a*s.

She's got no super power and she never really murders no one. She just cold-hardheartedly tortures poor innocent, retarded people from her mental institution and leaves them worse off than dying. In my all-time Top10 movies, blog about it another time.

Memorable Character - The Usual Suspects (1995)

? as Keyser Soze/ ? (AFI's 100 Years #48 Villain) :
"The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist."

I decided not to expose my Favorite Villain here. I render The Usual Suspects a must watch movie for everyone. Took me a while to google his picture.

To me he's the Lord of Devil, in one of my all-time Top20 movies. Period. So bad I think Noah Cross, Hannibal, Najib Razak and entire army of Cabin in the Woods're worshiping him with joss sticks 3 times a day. I'll blog about it another time.

Memorable Character - Chinatown (1974)

John Huston as Noah Cross (AFI's 100 Years #16 Villain)

Omg I posted the almighty spoiler. But who cares, nobody knows Chinatown no more.

With an overall screen time of 5 minutes (approx.), he scares the sh*t out of me in the final second of Chinatown. The final climax scene where he's in smiling and showing concern, delivers more chills than Kevin got dismembered. I feel like dismembering him.

To me, he's the holy grandpa of all bad-a*s. Such fatherly figure, such motherly fu*ker.

Memorable Character - Training Day (2001)

Denzel Washington as Alonzo Harris (Won Oscar Best Actor, AFI's 100 Years #50 Villain)

A black ice-cool confident, sleekly, trash-talking street-smart bad-a*s who sleeps with Eva Mendes and toys Ethan Hawke around.

This is all that I remember after so many years. He didn't win it for nothing I'm glad.

Memorable Character - The Shining (1980)

Jack Nicholson as Jack Torrance (AFI's 100 Years #25 Villain) :
"Here's Johnny!''

I believe way back, The Shining, Jack Nicholson and Stanley Kubrick have no idea about how influential they are in shaping, revolutionizing and defining a true psychological horror genre.

Memorable Character - The Silence of the Lambs (1991)

Anthony Hopkins as Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Won Oscar Best Actor, AFI's 100 Years #1 Villain) :
"A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti."

Hopkins utilizes only 16 minutes of screen time to trademark this timeless Legend. Normally people use 1-2 hours of screen time to win Oscar Best Supporting Actor, let alone Best Actor.

Muhammad Ali

Muhammad Ali :
"I have wrastled with an alligator, I done tussled with a whale, I done handcuffed lightnin, thrown thunder in jail.
Only last week, I murdered a rock, injured a stone, hospitalized a brick, I'm so mean I make medicine sick.
Last night I cut the light off in my bedroom, hit the switch, and was in the bed before the room was dark.
I wanna show you, how great I am."

I don't know him personally. But I can tell he's mean, humorous and creative.

Spoiler Alert! - The Cabin in the Woods (2011)

Ok I've got no choice but to post this mega spoiler.

Fu*k care Battleships or Avengers, watch The Cabin in the Woods!

If I've got no response from people I'm gonna post more spoilers here.

Memorable Character - Sin City (2005)

Elijah Wood as Kevin.

I always thought Kevin is unforgettable. Forgettable, normal library boy at first, until he dismembers people.

Finally The Cabin in the Woods seconds me. Yeah I always knew my taste is not too far off.

The Cabin in the Woods (2011)

I'm begging everyone to watch this.

You all have no idea what you're missing. Adhere to my plea please for once, for I can't describe this insane masterpiece to you.

Movie of the year for me till date, might even make my all-time Top 100 movies list, at least a guaranteed Top 3 in my horror/thriller genre.
