Skyfall (2012)

Pity one of the meanest villains just died like that.

Not even close to half-orgasm.

The theme is back to basics though. Elementary my dear Watson.

鸿门宴 (2012)

What the fu*k with the fake chess thingy?

Why couldn't they be loyal on reenacting the real case. Probably one of the most fascinating stories just went down the drain. What a  fu*king waste.

寒战 (2012)

Execution wise a major let down but nonetheless a surprisingly solid story and substance, rare gem in HK movies' standard.

Strangely I enjoy the movie more, 15mins after it ends, for my mind was running on overtime working out the logic.

Couldn't helped but just to be picky on already a solid rare gem,
1) Gotta create more window periods to wind down on the tempo, or even no harm stretching it to a 2hrs' show. Over pacy. Do more of a 郭富城's family scene, was a nice move to give my mind a break
2) Gotta condense and spend more time with elaborating the dog car, for it was my first clue
3) Gotta get rid of the similar faces. All looks the same for me except for 梁家辉 so they all get mixed up

28岁

备叹:“他自幼游学四方,寻师访友,常思上报国家,下安黎民。可如今,他已二十有八,终是一事无成,到头来只能空怀壮志,心中滴泪。”

再多一年,俺也二十有八。

Life of PI (2012)

How is belief in God paralleled in Life of PI?

I've found God. Just need to converse with him better so to apply and perform to the fullest potential in life of mine.

Art in the highest echelon, yet the purest of implication.

My Morphine

Life of PI guides me out and away from my sh*t-hole slump.

Sad to admit I need morphine. Good or bad is subjective, but a simple intentional movie is my morphine. I have no control of self-motivation. Luckily I have great mentors.

My November 2012

No wasting of time. Time will wear you out.

Still useful, but how much is left with me.

Ted (2012)

Man grows up on the surface only. Ted is directing at my stupid childhood fantasies and nonsense aspirations I know.

To hell all the values, intentions, technics and call Ted shallow nuts or whatever you want. It has grossed $469mil worldwide, so just shut up and eat up.

2012 Movie Feast

What a year with Cabin in the Woods, Looper, Chronicle, Avengers, Batman, Bond, Spiderman, Mr. Liam Neeson, Expendables...

Transformers don't join in please.

Looper (2012)

Omg I'm still obsessed with the Cabin in the Woods. I somehow feel Looper is connected with it. Anything associated with the Cabin in the Woods is top class.

The best scene is the spoiler. You'll know it when you hit it.

Kill me now, or never

Best time now to kill me off.

No chance later.

Believe in Rock Bottom

Anything can happen there. Last Saturday I killed a flying bird while driving within speed limit.

Yes. Me at ground level, killed a flying animal, with car. I swear on behalf of my four passengers/witnesses- this was not self-inflicted.

The Expendables 2 (2012)

No mothafu**a cobra son's gonna mess with the legendary Norris. All the bloody bodies, bashes, bullets, bombs and bazookas, just fu**ing leave him alone.

You get perks for kicking Bruce Lee's a*s - best intro scene, best intro music and best killer one-liner.

Who are the Expendables?

Stallone as Rambo, Rocky Balboa, cliffhanger, the specialist, Tango, new Carter
Statham as the transporter, the mechanic, multiple bank robber
Li as Wong Fei Hung, Fang Shi Yu, Huo Yuan Jia, Chen Zhen
Lundgren as Universal Soldier
Crews as Old Spies sexbomb
Couture as UFC champion
Van Damme as another Universal Soldier, Street Fighter's Guile, Max risk, kickboxer
Willis as Die hard John, Sin City's Hartigan, 6th sense Doc, Pulp fiction's Butch, Mr. 12 monkey, Mr. 5th element, the jackal
Arnold as Conan, old total recall guy, Terminator, Mr. Freeze, Predator killer
Adkins as the undisputed Yuri Boyka
Hemsworth as ... skip for now
And of course, Norris as the only living actor I know who fought Bruce Lee

Just in case you don't appreciate who they are.

唐山大地震 (2010)

“没了,才知道什么叫没了。”

I know this is supposed to make people tear like a babe.

And so I get ready, I act cool, trying to play the Rambo game, wanna fend off the presumably feminine tears.

I've almost made it. I failed towards the second last scene. How about you?

The Bourne Legacy (2012)

Ok something's not right. I'm not connecting with the style, the characters, the story, the actions, the directions, the villain... basically everything. I feel terrible.

I believe this can flair better, without 'Bourne' in it.

Good actors are shy

Funny I always thought actors are mostly extroverts, if not how can they weep or do outrages performances in front of camera/crowd?

Funny I thought wrongly. Clint Eastwood, Gene Hackman, Robert De Niro, Henry Fonda, Russel Crowe, Johnny Depp... are all as shy and as introverted in spite of their commanding presence, both cinematically and physically.

Brave (2012)

I doubt any more future cartoon creations can be cuter than the triplets.

But of course there will be cuter creatures coming up. Never-ending creativity.

Looking forward to my man

I wish they've darken the tone and normalized his experience.

Please make my hero go through an ordinary man's life, rather than a pretty boy god's tale. Let me worship him as a human. I've got nothing to learn from a god.

My secret

I'm full of hatred and anger all the time. I wish I'd transformed.

Be Afraid and Burn all Bridges

Blind Prisoner: You do not fear death. You think this makes you strong. It makes you weak.
Bruce Wayne: Why?
Blind Prisoner: How can you move faster than possible, fight longer than possible without the most powerful impulse of the spirit: the fear of death.
Bruce Wayne: I do fear death. I fear dying in here, while my city burns, and there's no one there to save it.
Blind Prisoner: Then make the climb.
Bruce Wayne: How?
Blind Prisoner: As the child did. Without the rope. Then fear will find you again.

Why do we fall?

Crowd: [chanting] Deh-Shay, Deh-Shay, Bah Sah Rah. Bah Sah Rah.
Bruce Wayne: What does that mean?
Prisoner: "Rise."

The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

First view was chaotic, second view was clearer, third view onward is all about absorbing and learning life's lessons.

I pity those who only view once, I understand why they miss Joker. But I learn more practical lessons from this than from Bible.

Anyone can be a hero, 'Batman' is just an idea.

From Joker, to Bane

Challenges can only get tougher and nastier, mentally and physically.

Embrace it, I know it hurts, for only victory can defeat me.

Why Dark Knight?

I finally understand Dark Knight, the freedom fighter who chooses to defy rigidity. He acts on his free will without shackles of norm, based on own conscious and intention for the better of masses.

Can be policeman but he chooses not to, can't express freely in a box. Can't be White Knight too, the real world out there is no sunshine and rainbow but cunning and unforgiving.

Just be flexible, heck care everything else and do your perceived right thing, one day people will understand.

I love Bane

I'm addicted to Bane's accent.

His almighty sea of depth and character, is diffused throughout his accent. Luckily I have his permission to learn from him.

Inside the Actors Studio

One of the motivational series that I'll cling onto for the rest of my life. What a privilege to listen to their experience every now and then, especially before sleep for me, to keep me energized.

Hope the season goes on forever but James Lipton is 85 now.

The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)

I buy into this Spider-Man more than those in the previous versions.

In him I can feel his agony, his struggles and his presence around.

He makes me believe that I can be the One.

Yea I'm a childish dreamer I know.

What is Time?

Benjamin Franklin :
"Time is money."

I'd not ask for more wealth or health, but time. Seriously gotta trade time wisely every single second from now onwards.

Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted (2012)

I regard Madagascar 3 a huge success.

Perfect balance in terms of results (box office/ratings/critics) and process (intention/creativity/fun for everyone!).

Captain Arsenal

I vaguely remember I saw captain band was on Vieira, Henry, Silva, Campbell, Toure, Lehman, Fabregas, V. Persie, Gallas...

Euro 2012 Verdict

If you've consistently/year after year, watched enough live games/replays/highlights of world's major soccer leagues, played enough Football Manager/Pro Evo, sacrificed enough time and effort for thoughts/bets/reflections...

Who else could be the more worthy champion.

“雙王辯2.0” Summary & Forecast

I'm a big-picture-person.

To summarize both parties' Achilles' heel for 雙王辯1.0, 2.0, 3.0...:
MCA's: Bribery ; DAP's: No track record

Who are Spain, Germany and Italy?

Michael Jordan :
"Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships."

Spain, Germany and Italy are basically Barcelona + R. Madrid, B. Munich + R. Madrid and  Juventus + AC Milan, they've been practising together for don't know how many years. Euro 2012 winner gotta be one of them.

Verdict: Czech (Euro 2012)

Gee I miss Nedved, Poborský and Koller. What's left after Cech, Baros and Rosicky?

Verdict: Denmark (Euro 2012)

As usual the Danes will play consistantly well with rigid structure, especially Bendtner, Agger and Kjaer will outperform club form, but lack of flair would halt their progress beyond group qualification.

Verdict: Netherlands (Euro 2012)

By default Dutch stars will each play solo game and then quarrel among each other, yet they'll demonstrate glimpse of madness to either slaugther Germany or Portugal, and lastly they will crash out of Euro 2012 in disappointing lonesome style.

Movies 101.4 - Examples of Top Movies

Top movies are top stories, have top executions and convey top intentions across. Below are my choices of which should be of consensus, provided we share similar frequency.

E.g.: 12 Angry Men (1957), The Godfather (1972), The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), Citizen Kane (1941), Schindler's List (1993), Seven Samurai (1954), Casablanca (1942), Sunset Blvd. (1950), To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), Cinema Paradiso (1988), Rashomon (1950), Bicycle Thieves (1948), The Shawshank Redemption (1994), Inception (2010), The Lord of the Rings, 霸王别姬 Farewell My Concubine (1993) , Chinatown (1974)... and a few Hayao Miyazaki's anime.

Movies 101.3 - Intentions

Here's the tricky part whereby intentional messages/ideas conveyed by the movies are felt/touched onto differently, subject to individual preferences and experiences. So you've got to ask yourself: What have you learned/enjoyed?

E.g. top intentional movies: The Shawshank Redemption (1994), Life Is Beautiful (1997), To Kill a Mockingbird (1962)...

Movies 101.2 - Executions

Executions consist of all technicalities for the story-telling, i.e. directing, acting, cinematography etc. Question to ask: How's the story-telling?

E.g. of top executions: Inception (2010), 12 Angry Men (1957), Schindler's List (1993)...

Movies 101.1 - Stories

Top movies are top stories, consensus. Question to ask: Is the story interesting?

E.g.: The Godfather (1972), The Lord of the Rings, Chinatown (1974)...

Movies 101 - How to Appreciate Movies?

Here's to value movies at a higher purpose, more than entertainment.

In my opinion, top movies have
1. top stories (consensus)
2. top executions (consensus)
3. top intentions (personal/noisy)

Certain Noise must also be identified and filtered to enhance just appreciation.

Muammar Gaddafi

This card is too imbalance for the game, let's create another Malaysian creature to balance it.

After popular movements overturned the rulers of Tunisia, Egypt and Libya, some creatures around still too imbalance, yet so defiant.

Bersih 3.0

Those who understands, already understood.

Done.

Please, the only mission now is to reach out to others who hasn't understood yet.

Not much time left. Be intentional of the goal, don't lose sight of the course.

Tear Gas can kill

Those who personally kena/experience tear gas will understand it can kill. Those who hearsay/read newspaper/watch facebook photos about tear gas can don't bother to understand.

Just duduk and bersih at home.

Just like only successful people know/understand what exactly is the bitter price for success.

Bersih 3.0 vs Bersih 2.0

Actually only 3 major differences.

1. Attendees are hell more, to the extend that nobody knows what's going on around, people and people only is what you can see and smell.

2. The ambiance is hell less tense, so romantic, people can wear anyhow, until the show starts.

3. Tear Gas for Bersih 2.0 only aims at the front line, whereas Bersih 3.0 shoots at the front, BACK, LEFT, RIGHT and from ABOVE.

Last Spoilers! - The Cabin in the Woods (2011)

Bersih is a ritual sacrifice for only selective Malaysians. Every now and then we have to appease the Ancient Ones. Don't ask me why, but I wonder how come every time we opt for Tear Gas from FRU/Police.

Who's the idiot to trigger Tear Gas? Is there other options like Silat from Umno, or Parang from legal immigrants, or Jumping-down-from-building from Anti-Rasuah, or Cows attack from Shahrizat, or Stupid smirk attack/C4 bomb from Najib?

I rather to be stabbed to death by funny clown and heroic unicorn.

In view of the limited lifespan for the movie screening here, I'm gonna be the spoiling bastard.

Who's meaner than Mr. Anders Behring Breivik?

Why the hell I learn from Drogba or Abramovich?

Mr. Anders Behring Breivik still has the chance to be trialed, to live with dignity and without death sentence, who's meaner?

Hannibal? The Army in the Cabin in the Woods? Najib?

Mr. Meanest Mean

Here's to my idol of my latest reborn philosophy.

Even De Matteo wins everything, Mr. Meanest Mean still won't bother to frown flicking him for Guardiola or Hiddink.
