How to Simply Gauge if it's a Good Movie?

There'll always be people asking me whether if the coming movie would be good, or worthwhile for cinema viewing.

I don't know if I haven't watched, but I've a simple gauge for standard answer- depends on your preference, the movie's director and the movie's genre.

Munich (2005)

A fictional tale about Palestinians wanting a homeland, while Israelis having to protect theirs.

An eye opener and a history lesson for me.

If I were an Israeli, the world must be pretty different for me then.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009)

This 2009 version is a competent depiction of what was in my mind of the novel.

All in all I agree that readings can definitely stretch one's boundless imagination. But I'm somewhat a rather 'visual' person. I prefer less reading effort.

Hence I appreciate movie more.

The Constant Gardener (2005)

The unveiling of a tragic love story resulting of a classic pharmaceutical capitalism's scam.

I always have a thing for African's hardship. Hence explains my favoritism towards this movie.

But all in all a somehow low-profile yet intrinsically saddening thriller, with top notch actings of course.
